Wasatch Mountain Camerata

  • Violinist David Langr, a Master's Degree graduate of the Manhattan School of Music, has held many orchestral and chamber music positions prior to joining the Utah Symphony Orchestra in 2002. He has been Concertmaster of the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, the Denver Chamber Orchestra, the West Virginia Symphony, the Ohio Valley Symphony, and Principal Second Violin of the New Hampshire Music Festival Orchestra. David has been a frequent performer on the Nova Chamber Music Series, and has been a member of the Montclaire, Friemann, and Ravel String Quartets. He has also performed as a resident artist with the Rockport Chamber Music Festival, the Charles Ives Center for American Music, and has been heard on National Public Radio in the world premiere performance of "Serenade for Two Violins and Piano" by Enrique Granados.

    As a soloist he has appeared with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, the Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, the West Virginia Symphony, the Ohio Valley Symphony, the Seneca Chamber Orchestra, the New River Valley Symphony, and the Vivaldi Virtuoso Orchestra.

    As a conductor and educator, David was Music Director of the West Virginia Youth Symphony for four years and is a frequent guest conductor with the Utah Youth Orchestra Ensembles. In 2017 and 2018, he was a teacher at the Haitian National Orchestral Institute, and in September 2025, David begins his tenure as Conductor of the Westminster Chamber Orchestra.

    When he is not playing music, David can often be found hiking, backpacking, or skiing around our beautiful state, collecting rare minerals in the West Desert, or making pizzas in his backyard pizza oven. David is very excited to join our YACP family of orchestras!

  • Students in WMC should be playing at the level of Suzuki books 7 or 8 (or above). Also, they should be able to play a 3 octave scale and sight read.

    Additionally, students must maintain private string lessons.

  • Tuition: $350 for the year. May be split into two payments.

    Attendance: Rehearsals are held every Monday, except for select holidays. Regular and on‑time attendance helps our orchestra grow and perform at its best. If a student misses more than three rehearsals or is tardy more than three times in a semester, membership may be reviewed.

    Uniforms: Girls are required to purchase a uniform through Concert Black, jersey top and long black skirt. Boys are required to wear a white dress shirt, black pants, black bowtie, socks, and shoes.
